3. Data Collection on Our Website

Cookies

Websites sometimes use what are known as cookies. Cookies are not detrimental to your computer and contain no viruses; they are employed to render our service more user-friendly, more effective, and more secure. Cookies are small text files that are deposited in your computer and stored by your browser.
Most of the cookies we use are so-called „session cookies“, which means that they are automatically deleted once you leave our website. Other cookies remain stored on your computer until you take steps to delete them. These cookies allow us to recognize your browser on your next visit.
You can configure your browser in such a way that allows you to be notified when cookies are being used; to permit the use of cookies on an individual basis; to accept cookies in specific cases or exclude their use generally; or to have them automatically deleted once you close your browser. Note that disabling cookies may impair the functionality of the website itself.
Cookies that are necessary for the electronic communication process or for the provision of specific functions you’ve requested (e.g. the shopping cart), are stored in accordance with Article 6(1f) of the GDPR. In this case the website operator has a legitimate interest in storing cookies, namely for the accurate and optimal provision of services. To the extent that other cookies (e.g. those for the analysis of browsing behavior) are stored, these will be addressed separately in the present privacy policy.
How can you manage the installation of cookies?
We give you the option of conveniently accepting or rejecting those cookies that are subject to your approval. You can also block or delete cookies simply by adjusting your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to manage cookies by accepting/rejecting all cookies, or allowing certain types to the exclusion of all others. To manage and/or delete cookies, simply go to your browser’s integrated „Help“ menu.
Manage cookies

In addition to what is set out in this policy, users can manage their cookie settings directly in their browser and thereby prevent third parties from installing cookies. By adjusting browser settings one can also delete cookies that were installed in the past, including those cookies which may have stored the consent for the installation of cookies by this website. Bear in mind that disabling all cookies may impair the quality of the website’s service. The user will find further information regarding the management of browser cookies at the following links: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
In the case of services offered by third-party providers, users can exercise their right of withdrawal and exclude themselves from tracking activities by using the information found in the third-party provider’s privacy policy and, if available, clicking on the opt-out link or contacting the third-party provider directly.
Nevertheless, the owner wishes to inform users that they may benefit from the following: Your Online Choices. This service allows users to choose their tracking settings for nearly all promotional tools. The owner therefore encourages users to benefit from these tools in addition to the information provided in the present document.

Server Log Files

The website provider automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically passes on to us in turn. These are the following:

  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system in use
  • Referrer URL
  • Host name of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request
  • IP-address

Note that these data are not merged with other data sources.
The legal basis for data processing can be found in Article 6(1b) of the GDPR, which states that the processing of data is permitted for the performance of a contract or of pre-contractual measures.

Contact Form

Whenever you send us an inquiry by means of a contact form, the information you provide through that contact form is stored in order to process your inquiry and any follow-up questions you may have. However, we do not pass on these data to any third party without your express consent.
Therefore, the processing of data you provide in the contact form occurs exclusively with your consent (see Article 6(1a) of the GDPR), and you can withdraw that consent at any time. All this requires is an informal email to us. Note, however, that the lawfulness of the data processing undertaken prior to the withdrawal will remain unaffected.
The data you provide in the contact form are stored with us until you request their deletion, withdraw your consent to storage, or until the purpose for the data storage no longer applies (e.g. once your inquiry has been conclusively processed). Obligatory legal provisions—retention periods in particular—remain unaffected.

Data Processing (Customer and Contract Data)

We collect, process, and use personal data only insofar as it is necessary for the justification, content-related structure, or modification of the legal relationship (inventory data). This derives from Article 6(1b) of the GDPR, which allows the processing of data for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures. We collect, process, and use personal data regarding the utilization of our website (usage data) only insofar as it is necessary for providing the service and charging the user for it.
The collected customer data will be deleted once the order has been completed or the business relationship has been concluded. Legal retention periods remain unaffected.

Data Transmission Upon Contract Conclusions for Services and Digital Content

We pass on personal data to third parties only if it is necessary for the completion of a contract, e.g. with the credit institution in charge of the payment process.
No additional transmission is undertaken, unless it is with your express consent. There is no transmission of your data to a third party (e.g. for advertising purposes) without your express consent.
The legal basis for data processing is Article 6(1b) of the GDPR, which allows data processing of data for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures.

4. Social Media

Sharing Content via Plugins (Facebook, Twitter & Co.)

The content on our website can be shared, in accordance with data protection laws, in social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, or Google+. For this purpose, our website uses the tool Mashshare. This tool establishes a direct connection between the networks and users only if and when the user actively clicks on the corresponding button.
The tool does not automatically transmit user data to these social network operators. If a user is signed up to one of the social networks, upon using the social buttons of Facebook, Twitter & Co. an information window will appear in which the user can confirm the text before sending it.
Our users may share the content on our website in social networks in compliance with data protection laws, without enabling the network operators to construct a complete browsing profile of the user.

Facebook Plugins (Like & Share-Buttons)

Our website contains integrated plugins of the social network Facebook, provided by Facebook Inc., 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, California 94025, USA. You can recognize the Facebook plugins from the Facebook logo or the „like button“ on our website. You’ll find an overview of Facebook plugins here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/.

Whenever you visit our website, the plugin serves to establish a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server. Facebook is thereby informed that you, identified by your IP address, have visited our website. If you click on the Facebook „like button“ while you’re logged into your Facebook account, you can link the content of our website to your Facebook profile. This allows Facebook to trace the visit to our website to your user account. Please be aware that as the providers of this website we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or of its use by Facebook. For further information on Facebook’s own data protection and privacy policy, go to: https://de-de.facebook.com/policy.php.
If you do not want Facebook to be able to trace your visits to our website to your Facebook user account, please make sure to log out of your Facebook user account.

Twitter Plugin

Our website contains integrated functions of the networking service Twitter. These functions are provided by Twitter Inc., 1355 Market Street, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA. By using Twitter and the „retweet“ function, the websites you visit are linked to your Twitter account and shared with other users, transmitting data to Twitter in the process. Please be aware that as the providers of this website we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or of its use by Twitter. For further information on Twitter’s own data protection and privacy policy go to: https://twitter.com/privacy.
To change the privacy settings on Twitter, simply go to your account settings at: https://twitter.com/account/settings.

Instagram Plugin

Our website contains integrated functions from the social networking service Instagram, provided by Instagram Inc., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA.
When you’re logged into your Instagram account, you can link the content from our website to your Instagram profile by clicking on the Instagram button. This allows Instagram to trace your visit to our website to your user account. Please be aware that as the providers of this website we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or of its use by Instagram.
For further information on Instagram’s own data protection and privacy policy, go to: https://instagram.com/about/legal/privacy/.

LinkedIn Plugin

Our website uses functions of the network LinkedIn, provided by the LinkedIn Corporation, 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
Each time you call up one of our web pages containing a LinkedIn function, this establishes a connection to LinkedIn’s servers. LinkedIn is thus informed that you, with your particular IP address, have visited our website. If you click on LinkedIn’s „recommend button“ and are logged into your LinkedIn user account, it will enable LinkedIn to trace your visit to our website to you and your user account. Please be aware that as the providers of this website we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or of its use by LinkedIn.
For further information on LinkedIn’s own data protection and privacy policy, go to: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy.

XING Plugin

Our website uses functions of the network XING, provided by XING AG, Dammtorstrasse 29-32, 20354 Hamburg, Germany.
Each time you call up one of our web pages containing a XING function, this establishes a connection to XING’s servers. To our knowledge, no personal data is stored in the process. In particular, no IP addresses are stored, nor is user behavior analyzed.

5. Analytics Tools and Advertising

Google Analytics

This website uses functions of the web analytics service Google Analytics, provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
Google Analytics uses what are known as „cookies“. These are text files which are stored on your computer and facilitate the analysis of your user behavior on the website. The information collected by the cookies concerning your use of this website are then transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.
The storage of Google Analytics cookies occurs in compliance with Article 6(1f) of the GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the analysis of user behavior, namely to optimize both his website service as well as his advertisement.

IP Anonymization

On this website we have enabled the IP anonymization feature. This means that Google abbreviates your IP address from within the European Union—for all member states and other signatories to the treaty across the European economic zone—before transmitting it to the USA. Only in exceptional cases will your full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA, and subsequently abbreviated. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to analyze your usage of our website, to draw up reports on website activities, and to provide additional services to the website operator related to website and internet usage. Note that the IP address transmitted by your browser in the context of Google Analytics is not merged with other data related to Google.

Browser Plugin

You can prevent the storage of cookies simply by adjusting the appropriate setting in your browser; we should point out, however, that if you do so, you may not be able to benefit from the full range of functions on this website. You may also prevent Google from collecting and processing the data generated by the cookie and related to your usage of the website (including your IP address), by downloading and installing the browser plugin here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

Objecting to Data Collection

You can prevent the collection of your data by Google Analytics by moving the following slider to „off“. This will enable an opt-out cookie which will block the collection of your data on future visits to this website.

For further information on how Google Analytics handles user data, consult Google’s data protection and privacy policy here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=de.

Order Data Processing

We have concluded a contract with Google concerning order data processing and are thoroughly committed to implementing the strict regulations set down by the German data protection authorities as regards the usage of Google Analytics.

Facebook Pixel

Our website uses the Facebook pixel as a means of conversion tracking, that is, tracking our website visitors‘ actions. This service is provided by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA („Facebook“).

This allows a tracking of the website visitors‘ behavior once they’ve clicked on a Facebook ad and have been redirected to the provider’s website. This in turn helps to assess the efficacy of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes, so that measures can be taken to optimize them in the future.
For us as website operators, the data collected in this manner remain anonymous, which means that they cannot be traced back to the users‘ identities. Facebook, however, does store and process these data, which enables Facebook to trace the data back to the respective user profile and subsequently use them for advertising purposes, in accordance with the Facebook Data Policy . This also allows Facebook to place ads on Facebook’s web pages as well as on pages external to it. As website operators we have no control over this usage of data.
You’ll find further information regarding Facebook’s privacy policy here: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.
You also have the option of disabling the re-marketing function „Custom Audiences“ in your Facebook settings related to advertisements: https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences/?entry_product=ad_settings_screen. To do this, you must be signed in to Facebook.
If you do not have a Facebook account, you can still disable user-based advertisement by Facebook at the website of the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance: https://www.youronlinechoices.com/.
If you wish to disable the Facebook Pixel, please select „off“ below.

Google AdWords und Google Conversion-Tracking

This website uses Google AdWords. AdWords is an online advertising program provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States („Google“).
Within the framework of Google AdWords we use what is known as Conversion-Tracking. If you click on an ad placed by Google, it creates a cookie for the purposes of conversion tracking. Cookies are small text files, which the internet browser deposits in the user’s computer. These cookies are no longer valid after 30 days and do not serve to identify the user personally. If the user visits certain pages of this website and the cookie is still valid, both Google and we can see that the user clicked on a given advertisement and was redirected to this website.

Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. These cookies cannot be tracked through the websites of AdWords customers. The information obtained by the conversion cookies is designed to gather conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. These customers are informed of the total number of users who have clicked on their ad and have been redirected to a site equipped with a conversion-tracking tag. However, they do not obtain any information which could be used to identify the users. If you do not wish to take part in the tracking, you can always object to its use simply by disabling the cookie generated by the Google conversion tracking in your internet browser user settings. This will ensure that you are not included in the conversion-tracking statistics.

The storage of“conversion cookies“ is carried out in compliance with Article 6(1f) of the GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the analysis of user behavior, namely to optimize his website service and his advertising.
For further information on Google AdWords and Google Conversion Tracking, consult the Google privacy policy here: https://www.google.de/policies/privacy/.

You will find a link for the cancellation of your subscription at the end of every newsletter.
